Sherry Lynn

I am Sherry Lynn, an artist, living in Grimsby, born in Toronto.  I am also a nurse,  psychotherapist, mother, grama, wife, and friend, not necessarily in that order, depending on the day.

Art was woven into everyday life: Grama’s hand-stitched quilts, Dad’s cut-stone fireplaces, Mom’s banana flambé…  Creativity has simply been the air that I breathe.

At 10, my poster art got 1st place.  Last summer, I won the CREATE Niagara Visual Art Competition with my “COVID Time” painting.  In between, I explored, mainly self-taught, fabric art, slab pottery, papier maché, painting, anything that sparkled.  Often these were inspired by practical necessity, other times by simple joy.

I have also been a lifelong seeker – a seeker of aliveness, of the sacred, of deep connection to my own self and to others.  Over the years, I have travelled many paths on my journey.  These days art is my pathway.   With my involvement in healthcare and in life, death has been an ongoing theme for me.  It recently came to my awareness that the ancient cycle is “ birth – death – rebirth” and I have missed the birth part.  My commitment is to focus more on the birth, coming to my art with beginner mind and curious body.
